Reviews
Nice inn with a good selection of food and ales. It was quiet when we went in on a lunch time, and they coped well with the big group of unexpected people ordering food. Lovely salt and pepper chips.
Lovely pub. Really good quality food. Steak n ale pie 👌 Sharing platters, have enough for 3.
Excellent location by the canal.
Nice atmosphere, and the staff make you feel like you've been going in for years.
Love the Blue Moon with a slice of orange., which counts towards your five a day. Wish I lived next door!
A veritable oasis in what is otherwise an industrial area. CL campsite next to a boating marina. The staff are ultra friendly, especially Sheileigh, the Australian barmaid who made me , a solo traveller extremely welcome. Very busy on a Friday night, even in February, but all the locals are extremely welcoming if you put a bit of effort in to communicate. The best fish and chips (£10) that I've ever had in a pub. Will definitely return. Thank you. Cx
Lovely, snug place to visit.
Fire was on, so cosy !
After a morning stroll along the canal myself and friends enjoyed pub cooked food here. *Specials menu 2 meals £15 ! A right Bargain !!
Great meals had : Sausages n mash, fish, chips, peas & curry sauce !!, GIANT Yorkshire pudding, beef stew n gravy. Fish butty comes in a sandwich with lettuce and tartar sauce.
Oh and SHARING PLATTERS !!! WOW JUST WOW !!!
Wouldn't recommend the "chinese" chicken curry & rice, taste like packet rice and not much sauce...quite dry...(was kindly refunded for my disappointment/disliking)
STICK TO the PROPER TRADITIONAL pub meals and you'll be right :)
Heard great things about this place and visited for the first time on Saturday.
A few people in our group ordered loaded chips and the toppings looked so nice. I decided to order salt n pepper chips expecting fresh toppings but all I got was a powdered seasoning which was disappointing.
Toilets absolutely disgusting and I had my 2 month old with me, so when I went to change him in the baby changing it looked like it had never been cleaned and it stank. So glad I have a travel changing mat because I would not be putting my baby on that thing I would have changed him in the middle of the room on a table!
I was a bit hesitant putting my mat on the dirty changing table tbh.
I'm sure it's nice in summer being able to eat outside by the canal and I will come back to do that.
The food did look nice and everyone else enjoyed theirs, it was just very disappointing when I got mine.
Hopefully the toilets will be clean by the time I return.
Used to have a fantastic rotating line up of cask beer from modern independent progressive breweries. Now it is just wetherspoons fodder, and lagers for the Carling brigade. No longer a real ale hotbed.
Great little pub with very friendly staff. The meals we had were both very nice. A really warm welcome. We were staying on the accompanying CL campsite in our Motorhome and loved it. We would definitely come back again hopefully when the weather is a bit warmer.
Great beer garden next to the marina, check before going if you intend to eat, we had no chef so there were only chips available and no cutlery.. this isn't normal but it was annoying.
